Located in northwest China, Qinghai province has the second largest Tibetan population besides Tibet Autonomous Region. In most areas, the elevation is between 3,000 to 5,000 meters in Qinghai. The Qinghai province and Tibet autonomous region are in one plateau referred as Qing-Zang Highland Plateau. Both the Yellow River and the Yangzi River originate in Qinghai. There are many ethnic nationalities traditionally living in Qinghai province for generations.
