Ngari area is the western-most part of Tibet Autonomous Region. With elevation averaging 4,800m, it is the highest ground in Tibet, in fact the highest in the world: no wonder it is called "The ridge of the roof of the world"! Though natural conditions are exceedingly tough in Ngari region, there are resilient local inhabitants who live in their traditional way in the world's highest land.
